1999

Apr 30 ~ May 2

This year saw the Festival move from LRAHM to the University of Western Ontario’s McKellar Room – a professional cinema and a very comfortable environment for screenings, popcorn and all. The quality of films shown this year was exceptional — many more of them being on 35mm — and for the first time the LLFF hired a projectionist to show them. The 1999 Festival was marked by a reception at HALO with music by The Strap-Ons. The Cover Art and programme cover are by another well-known London artist, Marcy Saddy. After lengthy discussions over several years about the possibility of working with London Pride’s film series, the Reeling Spinsters decided that the proud all-women tradition of the LLFF – in it’s eighth year, still the only lesbian film festival in North America — should carry on as a distinct and independent festival.
