LLFF goes to the Oxford Drive-In this September 24, 2020. Watch the website and social media for more details, SOON.
It’s been 9 weeks since we first learned that our May 2020 London Lesbian Film Festival was at risk of not happening. Initially hopeful that we would be able to postpone, we worked to secure venues to go forward in the fall. However, it is clear to us now that this, while optimistic, is no longer a viable or responsible option.
We are currently targeting April 30th through May 2nd, 2021 for our 29th annual film festival and we hope to see you all there. The highly anticipated 30th anniversary will just have to wait for one more year.
Some of you have asked if we will be presenting an online festival this year and our answer to that is no. As you all know we are a not-for-profit enterprise fully run by volunteers, and while we would love to provide an online experience we do not have the resources to make something like this happen. We hope to begin our usual planning in September for the 2021 festival.
As you can imagine, we have been dealt a financial blow as a result of this pandemic, please continue to support our sponsors and advertisers as you are able, they are a key part of keeping our festival alive. We will continue to be active on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and our website.
If you have any specific questions for us please email email@example.com and we will do our best to address them. Stay in touch with us, with each other, and with the LGBTQ2+ community at large because we are stronger together.
Debi DeMillePresident, LLFF Reeling Spinsters
Dear festival attendees, supporters, and filmmakers,
We are reaching out today to inform you that due to the current covid-19 pandemic, it is no longer possible to safely hold our festival this May 1-3.
This situation is unfortunate and presents some difficulties for our team going forward, but we remain passionate and invested in bringing our community together to celebrate lesbian identities and stories on screen.
We are taking the next few weeks to assess our options and see if it is feasible to postpone the festival until later this year, as some other events have already done.
The health and well-being of our community, and the importance of this festival to each of you, will be paramount in our decision making.
Please know that you are all in our thoughts and we hope you are keeping safe and well. For those of you working on the front lines, in healthcare, first responders, or are otherwise deemed essential and continue to work outside the home, please accept our sincere thanks for all you are doing.
We commit to keeping you informed and ask for your patience just awhile longer while we navigate this uncharted territory.
President, LLFF Reeling Spinsters
London Lesbian Film Festival is committed to bringing you the highest quality events each year because your experience is our number one priority. As this festival has grown over the years, so too has the cost of venues and services. Our ticket prices have remained frozen for the last six years and this is no longer sustainable. It has been determined that in order for the festival to continue, at the level of quality you have come to enjoy, they must be adjusted accordingly.
The ticket pricing for 2020 will be:
Weekend Pass – $90
Individual Film Screenings – $15
Three Day Film Pass – $40
Brunch – $60
Dance – $15
This small increase reflects current market standards and will help ensure this festival’s success for many more years to come. We appreciate your understanding and continued support of this one-of-a-kind event that connects and celebrates the lesbian community.
We have some exciting news to tell you about. This year the Festival is back downtown. And we mean ALL downtown. Book a room at the Delta – walk to the movies TWO BLOCKS to the fabulous and beautiful Wolf Performance Hall at the London Public Library. When it’s time for the dance, walk ONE BLOCK from the movies to the London Music Hall. Yeah, yeah, but what about brunch? Brush your teeth, hop in the shower – your hair won’t even have time to dry – because brunch is ONE block, from the Delta, to the Double Tree Hilton. We’re so excited about our new venues and so happy to be all together and back downtown. The only drawback is that your fitness tracker will take a hit – but we’ve built in a solution for that, too – with all the extra time you’ll have you can take a walk on the path by the river because that’s downtown, too.
Thank you to all who attended LLFF Presents Pride Film night 2019 during London Pride week at Aeolian Hall. We raised $1000.00 for John Gordon Home Resident Transition Fund!
