1992 Projecting Ourselves

April 2,3,4
Coming home to London from the Montreal Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Monica McQueen has a vision: why shouldn’t London have its very own lesbian film fest? It might seem unlikely, in a famously conservative city of only a quarter of a million people, but nothing is impossible when women get busy… Monica sends out a call for help and ideas in Matrix (the London Status of Women Action Group newsletter), and soon plans for the first London Lesbian Film Festival are underway. The Festival takes place downtown at the LRAHM (London Regional Artistic and Historical Museum), and despite the organizers’ nervousness about public reaction, it is a great success and all the tickets are sold.
